Wedesday Wishlist 10.02

Now that October has officially gotten its feet on the ground, my palate can make the official transition into autumn. So many seasonal recipes I have been hankering to try call for Dutch oven this and Dutch oven that. Any excuse to make a Le Creuset purchase is a good enough one for me, especially if they are having a sale. Unfortunately, my bank account and I are not seeing eye to eye on this matter.

Just one more item to add to my wishlist!

1. Le Creuset Essential Bakeware Set. At only $224.99 this set is a steal! Well….maybe for individuals other than myself. I love the blue and yellow colors! They remind me of the French countryside that I have only visited in my dreams. Image

Lately I have been up to my elbows in pie crusts and polenta! The other day I made a savory tomato and polenta pie to welcome in October. You can look forward to that recipe soon! As well as many others that do not require the use of a dutch oven haha!

Happy Wednesday!

Wednesday Wishlist 9.25

You guys! September is over with in less than a week! It seems like just yesterday I was rambling on about my birthday and the arrival of fall. In exactly one month I will be making my way up to Pittsburgh for a mini vacation. Like Texas, October is a transition month for weather, though I think Pennsylvania takes the better end of the deal.

I am in need of a jacket for this kind of weather. Actually, I could probably get by with something I have in my closet, so I am in want. The following are in-betweeners I am currently lusting over. I’d have to win the lotto before purchasing that Pendleton!

1. Pendleton’s Los Ojos CloakThis would look SHARP with my black Brixton hat and my long blonde locks! I love everything Pendleton puts out. Unfortunately all I can afford by them at the moment are their notebooks. Love ’em! Image2. Stash Co. Fringe Mala NecklaceI am obsessed with this necklace, as I am with anything involving fringe! This necklace reminds me of the suede fringe jackets I had as little girl. I was fancy and owned 2 jackets, a black and chestnut color, until my little sister threw up on one and my mom never took it to the dry cleaners. Sad but true story! (I don’t know why I just told you that.) Image

After attending the TXSC conference, I discovered the lovely, radical, cool, and TEXAN blog Mucho Mucho Bueno Bueno. Sisters Brandi and Kelly can often be seen sporting the mala necklace.

3. More jackets! Surplus and parkas. Maybe I just like all colors the traditional parka comes in. Maybe I just like all the pockets. This is one jacket I plan to purchase before winter arrives. They are so versatile and perfect for layering! ImageImage

What are your favorite pieces for transitional weather?

Hope you all have a lovely Wednesday!

Wednesday Wishlist 9.11

Before I delve into another blog post about all the things I currently want but do not have, let me start out by mentioning how thankful I am for the things I have already been blessed with. I am not just saying this because this day, September 11th, has a history, but because I really do appreciate you all- my friends, my family, my loyal readers, and even the passersby. Y’all keep me going!

There is only one thing I am currently lusting over at the moment. So I will keep this post short and simple and to the point.

A butcher’s block! I love working with various types of dough on a wooden surface. My wooden IKEA table however does not work the same as my wooden cutting board. My cutting board is actually too small for many of the baking journeys I embark on. Boo hoo. At the moment, I have my eye on a block by Michigan Maple. 24 by 18 inches is big enough, right?

I really do hope you all have a great Wednesday. I love and appreciate you all!

Wednesday Wishlist 9.4

Yesterday was the best birthday I have had in a long time! I didn’t even cry (and everything makes me cry)! Chalk it all up to good company and being in a very happy place. A whole lot has happened these last few months- things that have a tendency to make or break a person. I feel like I am swimming in a sea of optimism!

I don’t really have a wishlist right now. All I want is to make 25 my year. I’ve managed to do a pretty good job so far!

Wednesday Wishlist 8.28

It’s finally here- the last Wednesday of August! 6 days from now I will be turning 25. It’s my silver anniversary of being born, y’all!

I’ve never been a super materialistic person. I think the majority of that comes from growing up without a lot of money and 5 brothers and sisters. Socks and underwear made great Xmas and birthday presents because they were things I used everyday! Even now, I don’t ask my parents for anything outlandish. Normally if anyone asks what I want for my birthday, I’ll say something huge and expensive as a joke. Quickly I retract the statement, because not everyone gets sarcasm, and ask for a bottle of wine and a bunch of sunflowers. Easy, inexpensive, and…..useful haha!

Here is my birthday wishlist for the BIG TWO FIVE:

1. A KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6 Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer. Haha, yeah right! This girl will keep dreaming! I actually could have purchased this for myself had I not spontaneously bought plane tickets to Pittsburgh for October. I was antsy!

2. Succulents. Yeah yeah yeah, the fad plants of 2013 it seems. These juicy babies are as popular as French macaroons or cupcakes. Still, they are something different than my normal go-to: sunflowers.

3. Masons Masons Masons. My jar collection is never going to go anywhere if I keep giving away salsa, salad, and other treat stuffed masons! Old or new, vintage or not, I’ll take ’em because my supply is dwindling!

So that’s my list. So excited for September to finally be here! Any advice on turning 25?

Wednesday Wishlist 8.21

Once again, I feel like the week is dragging! Yesterday felt more like a Wednesday for sure. School will be starting back up one week from today, and that should definitely make the weekdays pick up their pace. Each evening when I walk my dog, I can feel the next season approaching closer and closer. While the temperature still get up to the 90s, the unbearable heat goes down with the sun. I really shouldn’t be complaining. It’s been a pretty mild summer this year. For Texas standards at least.

Ugh, but I am so ready for layering and leaf changing! And for all the lovely smells and tastes that come along with fall. Wishing for it real hard! The following are things I’d like to have to welcome in the -er months:

1. The Hoosier Mama Book of Pie: Recipes, Techniques, and Wisdom from the Hoosier Mama Pie Company. When I think of fall desserts, for the most part I think of pie! Pumpkin, sweet potato, pecan, and dutch apple, oh me oh my! My taste buds are getting excited just thinking about pie! The Hoosier Mama Pie Company started by Paula Haney in the wonderful Chicagoland in 2009 has since become a local favorite and national destination. Her cookbook came out last week! Often times I do not buy cookbooks, but this one is definitely on my wishlist! Chicago and pie, two wonderful things!

2. A Lady’s Writing Set. Anthropologie currently has the Gentleman’s version on sale. Well, since we were on the topic of the Midwest, I thought I would bring up that one of Texas Style Council Friends living in Indiana and I are going to be penpals! Hoosier penpal? Me, of course! Handwritten notes and cool mail surprises are little things I love to send. I will ALWAYS send you a postcard upon travelling if you ask me to! How cute would a little writing set be? Or even better, I could print my own!

3. Mason Jar Tumbler. I absolutely love love love mason jars. I actually collect vintage masons and canisters! Every morning I bring my quart sized jar of cold brew to work, wishing I could drink it along the way but can’t risk it (I am a huge spiller). When I discovered the Mason Bar Company I thought my dreams had been answered! No more spills! They also have a very lovely Instagram!

I hope you all have a lovely Wednesday!

Wednesday Wishlist 8.14

I woke up this morning thinking it was Thursday. How I wish it was Thursday! Can I add that to the list?

August is halfway over! 17 more days until the end of the month. 20 more days until my birthday! The following items are from my birthday wishlist. I would just purchase them for myself, but I am trying to work on a little thing called budgeting….

1. A Brixton Hat: Messer Style. I actually went on ahead and treated myself to this baby yesterday. It ended up being pretty serendipitous because now the hat is out of stock! I ordered this wool, wide flat brimmed fedora in black. I plan on it being a key piece in my Fall/Winter wardrobe! Now if only the UPS guy and cooler weather would get here faster!

2. Nathalie Lete Plates at Anthropologie. These plate are absolutely adorable! I love the vintage folk art feel they give. The little girl looks like one of the zillion Hummel figurines my grandma has…and the mushrooms and gnomes….don’t even get me started! At $24 a pop, I’d really only want one of each. If you really want to fall in love, check out the French designer, Nathalie Lete‘s, website!

3. A Beautiful Mess’s Photo Idea BookI am kicking myself for forgetting to preorder this book! Even more so after meeting this lovable duo. It was these 2 ladies + my little sister who really got me into blogging. They keep me inspired on the reg and surely their book will help do the same. Plus, I love taking photos!

I will probably end up purchasing these beautiful things for myself a little farther up the road. I have friends who design for Urban Outfitters…meaning Anthro discount! All it takes is a little bribery and a lot of hint dropping!

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday! So happy tomorrow is Thursday!

Wednesday Wishlist 7.31

Just because I haven’t posted any new kitchen creations or DIY attemps does not mean I plan on leaving y’all hangin’! I swear, These days my life has been consumed with cardboard, basically the new floor covering in my room.

Here are the more recent things I have been wanting/wishing for:

1. July to be over with. Come on August 1st! Good thing this wish will actually be coming true, and much sooner rather than later. 16 more hours to go! Then only 34 more days til my birthday and the -er months!

2. A fancy shmancy juicer that won’t break on me. So in an attempt to eat better, my cousin and her husband have embarked on a 15 day juicing cleanse detox journey. I know I know, She’s jumping on the whole #juice4life #eatingclean #organicordie bandwagon. I can hear myself making fun of me now, but after all the pizza and takeout I have eaten over the past week (it must be an unwritten rule of moving) a 15 day lifestyle of eating only fruits & veggies and other good things sounds really nice.

Oh yeah, Brandon decided to start up a blog. His sense of humor may be dry, but his posts will leave your taste buds feeling otherwise! Everything they make sounds really good! I just wish there were more pictures.

Beside the point. I want this juicer.

But with my budget, I should probably go for the 850 Watt juicer instead.

3. A Dream Work Space. One of TxSC’s sponsors this year is Squarespace, a website design company. So of course with any creative conference, there is going to be a contest hosted by the sponsor.

This contest calls for an Instagram or Tweet of your workspace…. Sadly this made me realize that I do not have an actual work space! And my surplus desk at my real job is in no way pleasing to the eye.

I started a Pinterest Inspiration Board yesterday to gather ideas and visualize how I would like my space to look (though much of my work is done in the kitchen). I can’t wait to slowly piece together this dream! The following are the just a few from my board.

Man, I really love chalkboards!

Only a few more days til Austin! So excited!!

Wednesday Wishlist 7.24

These days packing is just about the only thing on my mind. We finally got out storage unit today. Friday I will transfer all of my larger pieces and boxes to the temporary space and live out of a suitcase for the next week and a half! Fun times! At least my homeless days will be spent in Austin! The Texas Style Council conference is right around the corner! My nervousness is finally starting to turn into pure excitement! My boss also told me yesterday that I can count one of my days there as work time. Talk about elated! This means I will have enough vacation time to still go to New Orleans with my dad and sisters. My dad also bought me a plane ticket there!

Ya know, the above reads like wishes and dreams do come true! The following are a few more things I’d like to have in my life. If only wishes were fishes! (I would still probably need a fishing lesson or two.)

1. School is starting up really soon. Even though I am no longer taking classes, I work on a college campus. That being said, I still get the first day of class jitters. And that being said, I still love those classic inspired carry all bags. My friend Erin has a few from the Cambridge Satchel Co. I love the two tone look of their Designer bag. I could fit lots of things from notebooks to my camera in here! I think this would be absolutely perfect to carry around TxSC and the French Quarter!

2. Speaking of going back to school, the beginning of the academic year is the perfect time to start getting organized. I love all the bright colors Moleskin is using now for their academic planners and notebooks. I only really like the color red when it is an accessory. The kelly green and yellow are my other favorite shades.

3. Lately I have been listening to a lot of Washed Out. Their new album will be coming out in August. I wish I had the expendable cash to pre-order their record! I love the album artwork.

4.  And last but not least, what would this blog be without anything pertaining to the house and/or kitchen? Last summer I was able to score my dream bedding from Anthropologie on the cheap during their summer sale. That’s right, I got their Rivulets quilt. Now that I have slept on a piece of heaven, I want more! I want the mint color. The color is so refreshing and makes me smile every time I see it. If it goes on sale then maybe it is mint to be!

(Though mint doesn’t really go with anything I own.)

These are some of the things I am wishing for. What do you have your eye on?

Wednesday Wishlist 7.17

A lot of the time I find my wishes tend to be on opposite sides of the want spectrum. I have those outlandish “if I won the lottery” wishes as well as a hankering for those intangible, non-material things. Eyelash extensions and a Benz vs. peace of mind and a whole lotta love in my life. The latter are things that money can’t buy, no matter how many times over you win the lottery. You have to find them within yourself first, and once you do, they sure as hell last longer than falsies or a German engineered engine.

Those are things I wish for everyday. Wow, this post is not going as intended this morning. I feel like I need to do some yoga now! Cleanse my soul! It would probably really do me some good! Anyway, here are a few of this week’s material wishes.

1. It’s been unseasonably rainy here in Texas. I’m not going to be one to complain about this Portland like weather, but I feel like these would come in handy. Love that classic Hunter green!

2. Speaking of Portland, this dress reminds me of a Northwest naturescape! Have any of you ever ordered anything from Modcloth before?

3. Because I live in Texas, I cannot expect this rainy weather to last. “If you don’t like the weather in Texas, wait 5 minutes.” <<- So true! Pretty soon we will be back to muggy 100+ temps, why not cool off in style with a vintage/retro fan replica? No rewiring required!

4. I recently made an in my best interest decision to live by myself. Now that I can truly make my place my own, I have been lusting over this IKEA bed frame. It sorta reminds me of the iron rod bed at my grandma’s house. I’ve always wanted it!

Hope you are all having a good week! Happy Hump Day!
